Pre-Purchase Boat Survey

This is the most comprehensive type of inspection, and is strongly advised when purchasing a new, or used vessel. Condition and overall operation of the vessel is examined and all systems checked. A pre-purchase survey covers structural integrity, electrical systems, propulsion, fuel and water systems, machinery, navigation and safety equipment, miscellaneous on-board systems, cosmetic appearance, and electronics.

Insurance Survey

This inspection is performed so that the insurance company can ascertain that the vessel is an acceptable insurance risk. Insurers are interested in structural integrity, safety and that the boat is suitable and safe for its intended use. Most insurance companies require a survey on older boats. They will want to know the value of the boat and the cost of a replacement vessel should you incur a total loss.

Boat Appraisal Inspection

This survey is performed to gather enough information to allow the surveyor to put an accurate value on the boat. This is often needed for donations, estate purposes, financing and legal cases
